Well, we're finally prioritizing Christmas decorating now that we're two weeks past Thanksgiving! Oh my we're behind! Between the wet Pacific Northwest weather and my husband and I both getting sick, we have been setting up holiday decor, just nothing to the point of being photo and blog worthy!

I was pleased to finally get the my Christmas porch set up this weekend, I'm really loving the green and white Scandinavian nature vibe this year, which was the focus of my holiday front door display. If the natural Scandinavian look is what you're going for too, be sure to read our Christmas post about 16 Christmas Scandinavian Inspired Rustic Decor Ideas! My research for our own home's holiday decor was the inspiration for that post.

So I admit, Madi and I are really excited about this post. It's the very first blog post about our own home! You might even get to see other areas beside the front door before Christmas comes haha. There's so many details that go into setting up a blog, we haven't made our home projects and DIY tutorials a focus yet. 2018 will be the year that becomes more of a priority for our blog. Make sure to opt-in to my emails so you'll start receiving our newsletter about my home, DIY projects and frugal living!

We purchased a 1980's beat-up rental house 15 years ago and have been s-l-o-w-l-y fixing it up and remodeling. I'd say it's about 60% done but I'm still working on the decorating and other areas that are still an 80's flashback. I admit, part of the reason I started an online business is to make extra money to keep paying for my home, crafts and gardening projects ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm in love with our Ballard Designs over-sized French coir door mat, and guess what? It's 5 years old! I just consider it well-loved and broken in. I know the trend these days is to put a small area rug underneath a doormat, but I don't need to since the Ballard Designs doormats are already large. Anyways, this is proof of how well they hold up with daily use. As a matter of fact, if I needed a new doormat, I'd either repaint the black diamonds OR I'd honestly go buy the exact same one again!

scandinavian christmas diy wreath

This is the first year I've hung a wreath on the front door since we remodeled the house exterior 8 years ago. I really wanted a Craftsman style fir front door with a dentel moulding shelf, but didn't want to nail a wreath into the wood. Once I figured out that there's Command hooks specifically for this purpose, I had to buy one! My exact style of door was even on the package

I made the boxwood garland with clippings from an overgrown boxwood from our yard. And by overgrown, I literally mean it! It's almost 7' tall! I purchased the boxwood wreath from Trader Joes and painted the whiteย  wooden stars to give it a Scandinavian Christmas feel. Usually I made my own wreaths, but didn't think to use my own boxwood clippings until AFTER I purchased the wreath of course!
