Here’s a round-up of my favorite Christmas rustic decor and nature DIY craft ideas that have inspired me for my own home this year. I don’t know if it’s due to my Danish heritage and upcoming Denmark trip with my mom or just craving a relaxing and simple holiday season, but I’m considering not pulling store bought decor out and simply decorating with nature. I call this style rustic Christmas with a Scandinavian twist.
Not only is it inexpensive, but it’s easy, it’s resourceful and potentially uses yard clippings that would otherwise just gone into the garbage or compost.
Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Rustic Candle Display
Idea by My Scandinavian Home
This doesn’t include a tutorial, you can simply mix up real yard clippings, faux leaves, cinnamon sticks, pine cones, eucalyptus, or whatever you have on hand.
What I love about this is you could take your leftover fall pot pourri and mix in evergreen to carry it through the winter.
Mini Boxwood Wreaths
Instructions by View Along the Way
I have multiple huge overgrown boxwood shrubs in my side yard and I decided to make my own after just seeing mini faux boxwood wreaths selling for $11 each! I was happy to find this tutorial so I can just make my own and save me money. This would also work well for whatever evergreen clippings you have in your yard or leftover garden herbs like rosemary.
