You know you “should” probably participate in the traditional spring cleaning…. but frankly, who has the time??

Or who actually likes too?…..ok, I do know some moms who LOVE to clean, but I doubt that’s the norm…

By the time spring rolls around and the light comes shining in the windows, every nook and cranny you missed during the winter darkness suddenly becomes too visible. So even if you hate to clean, some things still gotta get done!

spring cleaning hacks and printables

The struggle gets all too real, doing daily and weekly chores is tough enough. Ok. We got you covered! The key to whipping your house into shape from top to bottom each spring can be broken down into these easy steps:

  1. Make Sure You Have the Right Cleaning Tools
  2. Create a schedule
  3. Find a cleaning system that works for you
  4. Get others to help you! Whether that’s your spouse, kids, or roommates, no one should have to tackle the entire house on their own! (I wish there was a way to make swiffer booties for dogs so even they can help!;)

Before you get started, here’s extra help if you need a little extra motivation to even start your spring cleaning!

1. START WITH THE RIGHT CLEANING TOOLS

Actually having the right tools on hand to get the job done, will make everything go SO MUCH FASTER!

Do you consider your self a lazy girl or just a busy girl? Regardless of the reason, having the best tools for the job will make things more fun and you’ll get done faster. Here’s a post that includes my 12 FAVORITE cleaning tools to get your house sparking as quickly as possible!

Here’s My ABSOLUTE faves if you’re on a budget or don’t have time to read the full post:

  • Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
  • Microfiber Cleaning Cloths
  • Roomba Robot Vacuum (we named her Rosie 🙂

GREEN CLEANERS

** If you want to make sure you’re using family-friendly cleaners, make sure to check out my friend Pam’s pdf download about safe cleaners for your home! She blogs about green living, which is something I want to focus on more, and she’s done all the research for us!  **

2. CREATE A SCHEDULE

Setting aside the amount of time that works for you is key here! Whether you want to do one room per day and get spring cleaning done as quickly as possible, limit yourself to once per week and work on it slowly over 1-2 months, or turn this into a year-round “spring cleaning” and tackle once per month is totally up to you!

3. FINDING A CLEANING SYSTEM

I’ve included multiple spring cleaning methods from super talented home organization bloggers! One system doesn’t work for everyone, so I wanted to share multiple different ways of tackling spring cleaning to help you find which one works best for you 🙂

4. GET OTHERS TO HELP YOU!!

Whether it be your spouse, your kids or a room-mate, hopefully, you can make it a team effort to get the spring cleaning done as quickly as possible.

It’s never too early to teach the kids about household responsibility. Wunder Mom has a GREAT post about Motivating the Kids to Help Clean the House.

5. BONUS TIP!

If all else fails and you’re struggling getting spring cleaning or deep cleaning projects tackled, hire a cleaning service to help you!

Ann’s Entitled Life has a super helpful post on what to look for in a cleaning service.

You’d be surprised at how reasonable the rates are PLUS most services would still come out for a 2 hour deep cleaning mission. I’d GLADLY pay $50 for a cleaning service to come help me over a dinner out haha. I admit I’ve done this a few times, and once some of my friends found out how inexpensive cleaning help can be, they get periodic help too 🙂

Happy cleaning!! 🙂
