There’s just something about Christmas that makes me want to go all out and decorate my home head to toe and cover every nook and cranny.

Even bare spots on the walls become easy fare game and I’m always looking for easy Christmas wall hanging decorations to make with the kids to deck the halls….and the walls! Christmas wall decoration ideas are one of my favorite ways to decorate for the holidays since they’re such easy and inexpensive DIY Christmas wall art decor.

I’ve been researching ways to make cute DIY Christmas wall hanging decorations for my own home and wanted to share these amazing DIY home decor projects with my readers.

I love to go “all out” for Christmas, but I don’t like to spend a lot of money on decorations that only get displayed for one month. My favorite way to find inspiration is to start with Pinterest of course, and then look around my own house, go through my craft supplies and look outside in my yard to see what resources I have on hand. I hope you love the Christmas wall decoration ideas as much as we do!

Adapting Christmas wall decoration ideas to what you have at home already and being resourceful are an awesome way to make frugal Christmas ideas on a budget.

I admit that when the kids were young we did craft projects constantly as a family. As they’ve gotten older, interests have changed and I’ve missed all of the Christmas crafting in particular. I love all of the adult Christmas crafts on Pinterest and am looking forward to doing holiday crafts with Madi, since she has a renewed interest in craft projects herself since she has her first place.

Here’s my round-up of my top 18 favorite Christmas wall decoration ideas:

1. Merry Christmas Garland

Instructions by Vicky Barone

Easy DIY Christmas wall decor ideas can definitely be frugal when you use supplies on hand and make Christmas papercraft wall decorations.

I have tons and tons of scrapbook paper leftover from when the kids were younger. My renewed interest in adult paper craft projects is making me want to pull out the scrapbook supplies again!

2. Reversible Burlap Holiday Banner

Instructions by On Sutton Place

DIY Christmas wall decor doesn’t get much easier than when you combine your project with another holiday you simply flip over for the next holiday coming up.

This is actually a Thanksgiving and Christmas banner, it has different words on each side. How awesome and resourceful is that?

3. Vintage Inspired Holiday Chalkboard Display

Design Idea by My Vintage Porch

While the link doesn’t include how to make this gorgeous chalkboard wall, banner or sign, I included it as inspiration! Researching holiday images on Instagram is a great place to find Christmas wall decoration ideas. You don’t always need a pattern or tutorial, and so often a cute photo is all we need to inspire us.

4. Christmas String Art

Instructions are not attached for the string art. However, you can simply draw out your pattern with dots, insert nails to follow your design and wrap with string. Any piece of wood works for this project. Keep in mind, Lowes or Home Depot will cut wood pieces for you for FREE if you ask them!

String art makes awesome Christmas wall decoration ideas for kids too!
