Making your own shower melts at home is a fantastic way to save money on DIY beauty products and use natural ingredients too. While I’ve loved essential oils for quite a while, discovering shower melt recipes with essential oils didn’t happen until we were recently sick at home and looking for natural relief.

Homemade shower melt recipes are a wonderful, inexpensive and healthy way to add a touch of self-care first thing into your day. Whether you’re looking for relaxing scents, shower melt recipes to help with sinus and cold relief, or something energizing to help wake you up, you’ll love these 9 DIY shower melt recipes!

If you’re wondering what the difference is between shower melts, shower steamers and bath bombs, both shower steamers and bath bombs use citric acid, whereas shower steamers do not. Shower melts literally do as they say, they melt down your drain and release a lovely fragrance of your choice depending on what type of shower melt recipe you made.

DIY shower melts are also made in a simple mold with a flat bottom such as in ice cube tray or silicone muffin mold. Bath bombs are typically round and are dropped in your bath water, having something roll around on your shower floor isn’t safe, so make sure to keep your bath bombs for your bathtub!

To use your essential oils shower melts, you simply place the shower melt recipe of your choosing right next to the drain and as the shower water flows, the homemade bath melts melt down the drain. You don’t want your shower melts to be in the direct water flow and instead, you want them to slowly melt away and release their amazing scent.
