12 gorgeous house plants that not only make your space more cozy, they also are air purifying and help get rid of the yucky chemicals around us. Gotta love plants that are double duty!
Some of these are easy to grow, others need a little more love but are worth it! The key to house plants is they all have different needs, whether it’s how often to water them or what kind of light they need. As long as you follow those two basic principles you should do well.
I’ve spent the last 6 months out in our garden, and now that it’s winding down I’m looking indoors to growing plants. Madi and I have both been obsessed with houseplants and she’s also excited to care for them in her cozy Craftsman she’s moving into at the end of September.
Some of these could be toxic to pets or children, so please research the plants you buy to make sure to keep off of the ground or out of grabbing reach if you have little ones or fur babies.

Palm trees

Who doesn’t love palm trees? And for those of us who don’t live in warm, sunny locations, why not bring the tropics to you and grow them indoors! Palm trees are what Madi misses most about living in California, this is the FIRST plant she’ll purchase for her new place!
Aloe Vera

Everyone should honestly have aloe vera in their homes! When you have a burn or itchy bug bite, you can break off a little discreetly located piece, cut it open and spread on your wound. No need for special (and also artificial) aloe vera cream from the store.

I included two photos of peace lilies so you could see how beautiful these get when fully opened! This is one of my personal favorites! Unfortunately my dog literally ate the whole thing, so all of my house plants have to be up high!
