There is no better time to gather all your besties together (or mom), look cute, and celebrate the girls than hosting a gal pal party for Valentine’s Day. From decorations to pouring champagne, we have the BEST, fun, and affordable Galentine’s party ideas for you!

My last two Valentine Days have been some of the best that I can remember, hosting Galentine’s Day with my closest girlfriends. When we were snowed in during the pandemic, my mom and I decided to throw our own Galentine’s party because why not?
We all know Valentine’s Day is the day of love and you spend it with a significant other, family, or the gal pals. In years past I spent Valentines Day getting dressed up, feeling cute, loving to make my favorite drinks and snacks for my friends or with my mom, dancing around, decorating with the best dollar store decorations and celebrating Lady love. Yes, it’s time-consuming to plan or put on a party or gathering and all the prep that goes into it, but with these Galentine’s Day Party ideas in this post, you will be having the most fun Galentine’s party to date!
This Valentine’s Day looks a little different for me…. I’ll be celebrating and having my first Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend in Spain. Like what?! And yes, I will most likely be making fun drinks and decorating romantica because I’m a big decor gal and like to set the vibe. Still always a girl’s girl and love celebrating the women in my life as well!
Galentine’s Party Ideas
It’s time to throw the most epic Galentine’s party, whether it be your first one or another one! There’s a lot that goes into planning the best Galentine’s Day party and there are some awesome Galentine’s party ideas to know! Walk through the process of throwing a Galentine’s Day party, and if this is your first time, you’re about to make Galentine’s Day a yearly thing!
How to Throw a Galentine’s Day Party
Make the Guest List
Who do you want at your party?! How will you announce your party and invite them? This is the first step to your Galentine’s party. Think of all your single girlfriends or who you think would love to be there and add to the fun vibe. What friends of yours will get along?
It’s easy to start inviting whoever, just make sure no friend will feel weird around others they may not know because you are all there to celebrate Galentine’s and have a good time! Sending out invitations or making a Facebook event or sending a group text is recommended.
Planning Decorations
What is the party vibe you’re going for, for Galentine’s Day? How do you want your place to look?
Think of a few main Galentine decoration pieces that make you think of a Galentine’s party and where you want those to be seen. I chose to make a candy heart sign that I strung in front of the island in our kitchen with tinsel, and I wanted that to be a focal point.
Also, everyone loves a good sign or letter board (it can be a sign with balloons too) so I put together a letterboard and placed that on the side! I cut out paper hearts, taped them to string, and strung those from the ceiling, a stupid EASY decoration idea, and looked so cute!! If you want to have a Bachelor/Bachelorette moment and go buy some roses for yourself and decorate, 10/10 recommend.
It’s the holiday of love after all! To tie in all the homemade decorations, I just went around the house looking for anything colored pink, red, or white and arranged those items with the props. I was amazed at how many decorations I suddenly had!!
Planning the Menu
Any good party has some signature dishes or a few fun items for guests to snack on! Choose at least three dishes to make or buy that are easy, cheap, cute, and fitting to the theme. You can ask guests to help bring food to keep costs down and have a variety to enjoy. Whether it be homemade or something you buy, here are ideas of what we had on our Galentine’s party menu:
- heart-shaped cookies
- chocolate dipped strawberries
- pink frosting chocolate cupcakes
- candy hearts
- champagne
- cotton candy
Shopping
The best thing you can do is make a list of EVERYTHING that you might need or want for the party. You can set a budget for yourself and write down the absolute needs or just keep track of everything you want to make/buy. As for decorating, I suggest going to the dollar store for inspiration and to keep costs low but still find perfect decor.
- red, pink, or white tinsel
- drink glasses
- drink sticks
- beaded necklaces
- confetti
- balloons
- backdrop
- fun props
- paper tassel
- Galentine’s sign
- flowers
- party game or gift
- table runner/cover
- food
- cute dishes for food to go on
- napkins
- alcohol for cocktails
- juice/soda/wine
Setting Up the Day Of
To make things as smooth as possible I HIGHLY recommend setting up the day before your party or getting up extra early to make sure you have enough time for everything to be ready! The more you have ready and set up, the less stressful it’ll be, and you can just have FUN.
My mom and I made all decorations the day before, arranged everything, and TOOK PHOTOS the day before (almost like having the actual party lol). This way we could actually enjoy our Galentine’s Day and have content to share. (On a side note, it’s nice to experiment with drinks and food beforehand so you can be sure it’s going to turn out great.)
Just know ahead of time how long drinks and food will take to prepare and then you can work around that with decorations.
